More than 20 participants from the chemical industry came together on the 26th of June for execon partners workshops at the Mövenpick Hotel in Frankfurt am Main. Representatives of major chemical companies – Altana, Arlanxeo, BASF, Bayer, Chemische Fabriken Budenheim, Clariant, Covestro, INEOS Styrolution, Henkel, Lanxess, and others – discussed and exchanged experiences on improving return on innovation (ROI). The Keynote speech of Dr. Lukas Hippel, Managing Director of Pharma Waldorf GmbH, dealt with the question: Are there innovative companies? The next break-out sessions focused on the following four core themes. The question of which organizational structures are particularly effective in the field of innovation in the chemical industry has been discussed in detail. The participants also considered how much freedom employees need to be innovative. The success factor human and the necessary characteristics of an `perfect´ innovator were also reflected. In the second part of the break-out sessions, common cooperation models in the field of innovation were examined and evaluated especially for the chemical industry. The last session dealt with the opportunities to accelerate time-to-market / time-to-profit in the chemical industry. Further questions that came up during the sessions were discussed intensively. At the end of the event, all results were summarized and made available to the guests. This year, too, the feedback was extremely positive. For this reasons execon partners is planning another workshop with similar topics around `Return-on Innovation´ in the year 2018.
