Execon partners and KEX AG successfully completed the 2nd Project Review Meeting in their consortium study project on “Digitalization in Process Manufacturing – Facing the Smart Future”

On June 22, 2017 KEX AG and execon partners and their research partners from the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology, met in Aachen with the 19 consortium partners from the Process Industries to review and intensively discuss nine Technology Cases which the partners had previously selected from a broad array of Industry 4.0 applications for the process industries.

The Technology Cases inter alia included “Predictive Process Control”, “Predictive Maintenance”, “Digital Process Twin”, “Track&Trace, Smart Labels” and “Lab Working 4.0”. For each Technology Case, aspects of sensors, protocols, information transfer, data base management & security, advanced data analytics and output & actuation were addressed.

The participants then selected four cases out of the nine to be advanced to Phase III of the study – the evaluation of the economics of each of the four in detailed business cases.

Phase III will also include a workshop on business model innovation and on smart services. Phase III be the final one; it will go on until Nov. 2017.
