EXECON AND KEX LAUNCH STUDY “DIGITALIZATION IN PROCESS MANUFACTURING”

What impact does digitalization have on process manufacturing? Buzzwords like »Industry 4.0«, »Internet of Things«, »Big Data« are omnipresent. But what do these buzzwords mean for companies in process manufacturing industries, particularly regarding their production processes, production technologies and value-added services? In order to answer these questions, KEX Knowledge Exchange AG and execon partners GmbH will start a consortium study »Facing the Smart Future: Digitalization in Process Manufacturing« in November 2016.

Digitalization, connectivity and advanced data analytics are mega trends. Nevertheless, companies often face the challenge to develop the relevant approach in the area of »Industry 4.0«. KEX Knowledge Exchange AG and execon partners GmbH are looking for consortium partners from the process industries to develop technologically and economically viable concepts for the participating partners in a pre-competitive setting. »Facing the Smart Future: Digitalization in Process Manufacturing« will start on 10th of November 2016.

Previous studies of KEX Knowledge Exchange AG dealing with “Facing the Smart Future / Industry 4.0” revealed that also companies in process manufacturing industries can reap substantial benefits from production processes, production assets and services getting »smarter«. Therefore, economic and technological transparency will be created in cooperation with relevant players of the whole value chain. Being prepared for the digital future in the areas of smart production, smart assets and smart services is the aim and benefit for the consortium. Key market and technology trends will be evaluated as well as possibly game-changing business model shifts. Business cases will also be developed for the focus areas.

The consortium partners will be able to direct the focus areas of the study through regular participation in meetings and workshops. Our research partners the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT), the FIR at RWTH Aachen and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL will contribute the analytical work, together with KEX Knowledge Exchange AG and execon partners GmbH who will furthermore offer the expertise, the methodology and the access to a broad global information and knowledge network.

Registration as consortium partner is possible until the end of October. For more information, please visit www.kex-ag.com or contact us directly via e-mail (info@kex-ag.com or info@execon-partners.com).
