Recent studies indicate that Western Europe as a manufacturing location for the chemical industry is losing ground against global competition. High costs of energy and labour, as well as a shift of the customer center of gravity away from Europe represent a serious challenge to defend the Old Continent in the upcoming years. To examine this trend, execon partners have launched a survey aimed at leaders at chemical companies with relevant operations in Western Europe under the name ”achieving cost leadership 2.0 in chemicals”.
Lorenzo Formiconi, managing partner of execon: “the survey will provide a view on what chemical companies are doing to respond to the challenge, and where they see opportunities and threats; it will also investigate the leaders´thoughts on the emerging technological trends such as digital manufacturing / industry 4.0. The survey is very granular, grouping the audience in 8 segments from petrochemicals to specialty & fine chemicals, and is a valuable input for the players in this area to understand what peers are doing and collect concrete new ideas to drive improvements.”. The results of the survey are expected to be published by the end of 2015.
